open-flat-layOh golly, you all know that when I went to Europe I had to hit up the quintessential UK based drug stores – Superdrug, boots, Kiko and of course oxford street Lush.  I didn’t get the chance to go into Selfridges (next time) but I wasn’t really going to buy any high end makeup anyway. Naturally I did a bit of shopping and tried a few items from each of these places. I realized I forgot to take a photo of the Natural Collection mascara but I also bought that. I also wanted to note some interesting differences in the makeup trends between London and Aberdeen. London I found it to be a lot more of a lighter base but I think this could be attributed to the fact that it was 40 degrees celsius so I too was wearing barely there makeup. In Aberdeen I noticed that makeup was a lot more full coverage. I thought it was so interesting because obviously both places had equally beautiful looks but I thought I would note that before hopping into the haul.

blushes

solar-bronze

Let’s start with the face products that I purchased. At Boots I got the Soap and Glory solar bronzer. It’s a beautiful sheeny bronzer with highlighter in it so it warms up the skin nicely while also giving that summer glow. As soon as I bought this I literally used it everyday on the trip. I really liked the idea of this bronzer because I saw ttsandra use it once and was always curious about it and finally found it in Boots. Second at Superdrug I bought the B. collection (Superdrug exclusive) lip and cheek tint. So this is something that I wanted to be a bit creamier. It’s a bit waxy in texture but I will still use it because it gives a beautiful glow to the skin you just really have to work quickly with it. Not for beginners. I also got another blush, mostly because of the packaging, from the Kiko store in Aberdeen. That store is beautiful I tell yah. This blush is from their gold rush collection and the shade is 02 coral because I love me a good coral blush. It’s a glowy blush which is my personal favourite formula of a blush.

lush-highlighter

I also bought a highlighter from the Lush oxford street store. It’s like a little brick of pretty glitter. To be quite honest, it’s not like a normal glossy highlight, this is all shimmer that packs a punch and doesn’t last all day. I also got a radiant face base from Kiko in hopes it would be similar to the Laura Mercier one I’ve previously swatched. Since I haven’t tried that one I guess I can’t compare. So far it’s nice, but nothing similar to what I was hoping.

barry-m-dazzle-dust

I also bought the Natural collection volume mascara in brown (which was an accident) and I haven’t opened it as I’m trying to use up my others first. I also got the classic Barry M dazzle dust which I tried once but it was a hot ass day so it kind of just creased and didn’t really play well with the primer I used. I am going to try this again for sure because it’s beautiful gold bronze shade.

concealers

The final two items were concealers. I put these two in a separate category then the face products because these are two hyped up concealers that I just had to try. The Collection lasting perfection concealer – I haven’t tried it yet so this is a literal haul and the Makeup Revolution concealer of which I got the last one in my shade and the others were sold out. I haven’t tried either yet but will report back when I do.

Have you tried anything new lately?
