I have by no means tried all the mascaras from the drugstore, but I like the idea of doing these round ups for different products at the drugstore and such. I wanted to round up the mascaras I’ve tried over the past 7 months (most of these will be decluttered after this post except for the top ones, purely because most of these are past due at this point). I also forgot to take pictures of all of these on my eyes so I’ve included some pictures I remembered to take. I would eventually like to do this post with mascaras from the body shop and high end brands! In due time people, in due time. I’ve divided the mascaras into three categories: the meh, the unfaves, and the top mascaras.
Essence lash princess . This mascara makes my lashes look beautiful. It is one of those mascaras that gets better with age. At first, it is a very wet mascara so the more you layer it on the more it flakes off. This Doesn’t come off very easily gives nice length not a ton of volume but I do like the effect. However, of the essence mascaras, this is my favorite one. It is one of the few they make that has a sized wand and so its easy to apply. However, it is merely a meh for me because it didn’t live up to the hype since it transfers on me every time I wear it.
Covergirl waterproof mascara. This is an okay mascara…it is very basic. For me this had good and bad days, I wouldn’t call this waterproof mascara because it does flake on me and typically waterproof mascaras hold a curl better than non-waterproof. I put this in the meh category because its fine, but isn’t something that totally wowed me.
Maybelline lash sensational sumptuous mascara. I really like how this makes my lashes look. They look curled, a nice amount of volume and length. My only complaint is it’s hard to get off even with an oil-based cleanser micellar water combo. That is why it is in the meh mascara section simply because the removal is difficult.
Nyx worth the hype. This mascara lasts all day and doesn’t flake. It Gives a more natural looking lash vs a super volumized lash – holds a curl. The reason this isn’t in my top mascara is that it isn’t something I’d rush out to repurchase.
Annabelle Expandable mascara. I love how natural and delicately volumized this makes my lashes look. This doesn’t flake throughout the day. This has a plastic bristle wand mascaras so beware it can poke you in the eye like no one’s business. The plastic wand is the reason it’s in the meh section for me. I do like this but I don’t know if I’d repurchase this specific annabelle mascara.
The collection mascara in brown. Honestly – I haven’t worn this one much but it is just a nice natural looking mascara. It doesn’t give much volume or length. It gives a nice natural look to the lashes.
L’Oreal Voluminous Waterproof mascara. This mascara was an accidental buy. I wanted the non waterproof but in any case, this wasn’t what I thought it would be. I thought it would be closer to the lash paradise mascara effect but it merely coated my lashes. It was easier to get off than the Maybelline Lash sensational despite it being waterproof. It was just a meh mascara for me.
Essence instant volume boost. Similar to the lash princess, this has a smaller wand so it is easier to use. However, the volume bit isn’t really volume. I just sort of lifts and coats the lashes. It also transfers on me.
Essence Get, big lashes. Again this gives nice length and volume but it has a giant wand that can be a bit of faff to use. Without fail I always get it on my lids and bottom lashes. It also flakes throughout the day so alas not my favorite.
Essence I heart extreme lashes. This again has a huge wand that makes it difficult to use. It gives nice length and volume. It also Smudges very easily
Essence volume stylist curl and hold mascara. This does have a smaller wand than the others and gives does give the lashes a nice lift and curl that holds all day. However, as with all essence mascaras, I found this one difficult to remove and it flaked throughout the day. I would really like to find an essence mascara I really like because they are so affordable, but alas the hunt continues.
The top mascaras
Marcelle ultimate power volume. This is a nice basic mascara – I accidentally bought it in blue but it gives a lots of volume and makes your lashes look fluttery. I would repurchase this, in fact, I think it will be the next one.
L’Oréal Lash paradise. Amazing this is my favorite mascara of all these. It comes off my lashes easily but also gives great volume and length to the lashes volume. It holds a curl all day and doesn’t irritate my eyes
Maybelline snapscara. This is my favourite fluttery lash mascara. It gives naturally lifted look and comes off easily at the end of the night. It doesn’t flake during the day!
Colourpop BFF Mascara. This is a great mascara. It is similar ot the lash paradise in that it gives a ton of volume. This is a top mascara because while sometimes I get it on my eyelids, that is generally down to user error for me. This is a very wet mascara so I like it more now that it is more dried out.
