For the third installment of foundation week, I wanted to review the Ordinary Serum Foundation. Last year I apparently deemed it one of the best foundations I’ve ever used. I still really like this foundation and of the affordable foundations I have tried, this one is the least irritating and has the coverage I like – a solid light to medium coverage that just evens the skin tone.

The claims: “Serum Foundations are lightweight medium-coverage formulations available in a comprehensive shade range across 21 shades. These foundations offer moderate coverage that looks natural with a very lightweight serum feel. They are very low in viscosity and are dispensed with the supplied pump or with the optional glass dropper available for purchase separately if preferred. The pigments used in this format are treated for a rich, highly-saturated effect. These pigments are suspended in our proprietary spreadability system that allows pigments to look natural on the skin, resist collecting within fine lines and stay on for longer. The foundations offer a semi-matte finish and are compatible with most primers and are designed to work exceptionally well with the primers offering from The Ordinary”

This is definitely a lightweight feel and has solid medium coverage. As with most things, I love a foundation that feels light on the skin and doesn’t irritate my sensitive dry skin. I do find it is a hit or miss foundation for me depending on how dry my skin is. I find with more creamy moisturizers this sits nicely on my skin but if my moisturizer isn’t as hydrating then the foundation does adhere to my dry patches. This foundation wears nicely and lasts throughout my long days!

Price: $6.70. The price and formulation of this product is unbeatable. This, like many foundations I own, will stick to dry patches, but regardless of the price, this is such a nice formulation. I found in retrying this, it is still a lovely foundation but I find I do need to hydrate well before applying to avoid the product sticking to my dry patches.
Overall rating: 4/5 stars. Again, I dock a star for the way it sometimes sticks to dry patches. 80% of the time this performs without a hitch and does not stick to those pesky dry patches. If you want a lovely, affordable, non-irritating foundation this is the one for you. You can purchase this at well.ca or deciem.com
