January 2021. I cannot believe that we are one month into the year. Still single. Still somewhat thriving. Still trying not to buy makeup to fill the void and trying to save money so i’m trying to implement less impulse shopping. This month I am actually really proud that I used everything that was in my shop my stash and did not stray. Of those products, I garnered a few favourites that I have been using all month.
The first thing I loved was the Iconic London Day to Slay eyeshadow palette. This is one of the best eyeshadow palettes I have ever used. Hand down. Compared to Natasha Denona. This retails for $85 CAD but I did get this in my Glossybox advent calendar. This is one of those palettes that literally every shade is good. Every shade works. They all go together, there is a nice range of dark shimmers to light shimmers and dark mattes to light mattes, as well as some nice pops of purples and mauves.
The Makeup by Mario master mattes palette was such a nice palette to use quickly in the morning The shadows blend out and there is a nice range of shades. This does pull a bit warm, but not too warm so I enjoy just taking one of the random brown shades and buffing it all over, then I’ll go in with one of the shades from the iconic london palette and tap it over my lid.
Two drugstore cheek products that caught me by storm were the ELF Blush quad in the light shade, and the Flower beauty blush bomb in pinched. These are two beautiful cream options, not just from the drugstore, but in general. The ELF Quad has four options of creams, mauve, pinks and corals so you can mix and match or just play with one. The Flower Beauty shade in pinched is a very easy nude and it is sheer but buildable so you can have “just flushed look” or a very bold look.
In terms of a highlighter I really loved the Guerlain Terracotta stick in nude. This is one of those highlighters that is very similar to the Body shop honey bronzing dome (a long standing favourite). I got this in 2020 with my shoppers points and it did not disappoint. This is a beautiful highlight. My bestie – who rarely comments on my highlighters, told me my highlight was popping when I was wearing this. If that isn’t a n endorsement I don’t know what is.
The cheek products that I was very into were the Smashbox Cali Contour palette and the Fenty Cream bronzer. Both of these products are what I was reaching for daily. The Fenty Cream bronzer in butta biscuit has is such an easy creamy product to use on the daily, and you can’t eff it up which is great. The Cali Contour palette is again, another easy to use daily palette. It has literally everything you need other than a concealer. You can set your face, contour, bronzer, blush, and highlight all in very simple steps.
These are some incredible faves!!
