NYX Perfect Filter Palette Olive You: Review and Four looks

Hello All! If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I have been loving the NYX Olive You palette. It’s the perfect fall palette and I think its great quality. Before we get to the different looks I created. technically three with only this palette and the fourth  I used the Huda Beauty coral obsessions palette in combination.

The Review

The formulation of the shadows. The formula of these shadows is beautiful. I find that each shadow, except for the light green shade, is very creamy and blendable.

This palette will run you $24 (got mine on sale) which is too expensive for a drugstore brand in my opinion. I understand that they are more of a stand alone brand and have stand alone stores but I think a mirror could have been included. Other than that, I’d say this is still worth the higher price tag. You can create various looks with it from dark and sultry to lighter olive day time looks.

Over all rating: I give this palette a 4/5 because of the absence of a mirror. I tend to use a mirror in my compacts to do my makeup but other than I think this palette is worth you pennies! And if you are a bit intimidated by the shades go with another one in this line, they have quite a few options!

Look one: using all the olive tones.

IMG_3367

attempting to show the olive tones fam

For this look I started with matte olive green shade and buffed that all over the lid and into the crease. After I took the sparkly olive shade and put that all over my lid. I then took that same matte olive shade to deepen the crease and popped in the gold shade on the inner corners.

Look two: The simple day time look.

IMG_3386

My left eye looks like I have no eye shadow on, but rest assured its there!

This look only need two eye shadows from this palette. I started with the warm matte orange brown shade and buffed that into the crease. To further blend I used the light matte cream shade to buff it out. Then I piled on the bronze shade for a pop of shimmer.

Look three: I wanted to use the purple.

IMG_3395

For this look I wanted to use the purple shade. So again I started with the matte orange brown shade and buffed that into the crease with a fluffy brush. Then to further blend I used the cream matte shade. I then took the purple shade with a more dense crease brush and focused it on the outer corners. Sometimes purples can be muddy and this one seems to be quite ice. After that I mixed the bronze and gold and piled that onto the inner corner and the lid.

Look four: the unofficial look with the palette.

IMG_3585

I really wanted to use that dark blue grey shimmery shade. I was watching one of the Mariah Leonard’s fall Fridays that inspired this look. I also dipped into the Huda Beauty palette because Mariah started with a yellow-mustard shade. I used the mustard shade in the crease and then a bit of the red shade in the palette to deepen the crease. I the tapped the grey-blue shade just in the middle of the lid for a pop of colour. I went back in to deepen the crease with a bit of purple from the NYX Palette and then buffed it all out lightly with the yellow in the Huda palette and the cream in the NYX palette. I just piled on my highlighter I was using on my face on the inner corner.

Have you been trying any new looks lately?!

Makeup Stash Friday’s: Highlighters

Highlighters without a doubt are my favourite thing to purchase and my favourite makeup item. Aside from lipsticks, this category was one of the hardest for me to pick out a few to focus on and attempt to pan throughout the fall and winter season. I love and will always keep NARS Forte De France and Becca Champagne pop in my rotation so those are not included in this post. I also am not including my project pan highlighter from Colourpop in Lunch Money. Also be warned, a few of these may appear in future project pans!

The Warm Toned Highlighters

Left to right: Maybelline Master Chrome, Essence Pure Nude Highlighter, The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Dome

First is a newer one to my collection. I was reading the best in beauty for Allure and of course love reading Byrdie and Into the Gloss, and all three platforms constantly mention the Maybelline Master Chrome highlighter in Molten gold. I finally broke and picked it up (on sale). In the Allure best in beauty the tag line was that it can be applied with a brush and a finger, This formula is so creamy and blendable. This is a poppin’ highlight and I think it’s going to be a beautiful addition to my (already too large) golden highlighter collection. I also wanted to pick a few cream highlighter for the fall season and the warm toned one I wanted to use is the Body Shop Honey Bronzing dome. It is a buildable highlighter and can be worn in more of a subtle way or can be built up. The Essence Pure Nude highlighter in number 10 be my highlight. It a bit of a more nude peachy champagne shade. Again, as seems to be the theme lately, this is a pretty subtle highlighter but you can really build it up to be in the page

The Cool tones

Left to Right: Nudestix Illumi-Naughty, Annabelle Highlighter in Light Champagne, Physicians Formula Butter Highlighter in pearl, Joe Fresh highlighter in Champagne

I wanted to throw in a few icy white shades. The Joe Fresh highlighter in champagne which in my opinion isn’t what I think of when I think of champagne shades such as Becca Champagne pop. This highlighter is a beautiful gem, the brand is only being taken out of shoppers but will still be in Loblaws and Superstores! unfortunately I have been hearing chatter that the entire brand of Joe Fresh is being discontinued . I love how subtle but also noticeable this highlight is. It is a super light white champagne shade which is something I’ve been gravitating towards lately. I also wanted to pick a lighter cream highlighter and decided to go with the Annabelle cream highlighter stick in champagne. It is a more subtle highlighter but because I am extra this will not only act as the only highlighter I’m using, it also will be a layering highlighter. The Physicians Formula butter highlighter in Pearl. I watched a video from Mariah Leonard quite a while ago and she was talking about this was a perfect satin highlighter and that is the best description for it. I love the sheen this gives to the skin and the (no pun intended) buttery formula.Nudestix Illumi-naughty is a product I bought last year around this time and haven’t used it as much as I thought I would. This is a really nice glossy highlighter so I think that I will be able to use this a lot alone and as a layering highlighter.

What highlighters have you been loving?

The Fall Favourites Tag

I’m not cool enough to actually be tagged so whoever is reading this, I tag you! I wanted to do another tag post because I rather enjoy thinking about what my true favourites and curating them in a post. I also, like a basic person, love fall and the fall season into the holiday season is just my jam. Enjoy my fall favourites!

Forest Glen candle co (1)

Forest Glen Candle Co

Favourite fall candle: this was a hard one because while I’m such a fan of Bath and Body works candles, there is a local candle co in my town, Forest Glen Candle co. The three scents I love that the owner came out with for fall are  Apple Cider Donut, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, and Pumpkin spice latte. They are made with clean ingredients and burn beautifully. They also fill your whole house with a scent not just one area which is one of my favourite things about them. Highly Recommend! Check out their instagram here.

Favourite Lipstick shade

Favourite lip colour. This one was a bit of a difficult one for me because as you might have seen from my makeup stash Fridays post I have a lot of options. But for me the OG and still one of my favourite colours is the NYX Soft Matte Lip cream in prague for a berry shade and Burt’s Bees Suede Splash for a dark nude and of course my rotating favourite MAC See sheer. I also wanted to throw in a new one to my collection (THANKS JAMIEPAIGEBEAUTY) the Covergirl lipstick in  Sultry Sienna.

Favourite drink. This is a bit of toughie because I do like a lot of drinks. Other than pumpkin spice lattes, a nice hot cup of earl grey or cinnamon tea are my two favourite drinks during the fall season.

PF Butter Blush

PF butter blush close

hourglass palette

Favourite blush. Again, as you might have read in my makeup stash Fridays post, my blush stash is quite extensive. Currently, I really love the Physicians formula butter blush in vintage rouge and the two blushes in the Hourglass Ambient lighting edit from 2016 (forgot to take a pic so here’s one I had from a previous post). I like to glow during all seasons and both blushes have a similar effect to the skin.

Favourite fall movie. I don’t watch a lot of movies but I think my most favourite fall movie are any of those cheesy W films that are unrealistic rom coms.

brooklynn 99

Favourite fall tv show. Brooklyn 99 HANDS DOWN. I know that you can watch any show you want to watch all year round, but I just love me a good comedy for the fall season and Brooklyn 99 always gets it right.

Favourite Halloween costume. I was never a big Halloween person but my favourite costume was when I was George from the Aristocats and i have to say, the costume worked out quite nicely. Other than that I was literally a polar bear for like 4 years as a child than a witch for two so that wasn’t quite my thing growing up. The holidays on the other hand, that’s my jam.

What are your fall favourites?!

Products on the chopping block

I have seen Andrea Matillano do this video a few times, and she was talking about products she had on the chopping block and I thought what a great idea. I have so many impulse, drugstore purchases that I just don’t reach for anymore or products that I thought were great and then discovered better alternatives. I thought I would give these products one last test for two weeks to see if they really have value in my collection. I would also like to say, these products (mostly not the Burt’s Bees foundation) are good products, but for me it’s like when you have been wearing more inexpensive running clothes, then you discover lululemon pants and just can’t go back. If these are your favourite items yay! More for you! But for me these are products I’m on the fence about and just don’t know if I will keep.

Flat lay chopping block
When putting this post together the first two  are two foundations. The Wet n wild photo focus foundation and the Burt’s Bees Goodness Glows foundation. The Wet n Wild foundation is okay, but it smells like paint thinner and while it looks gorgeous when you first put it on, it doesn’t wear nicely throughout the day. Again, we all know I reviewed the Burt’s Bees foundation – I’m going to give it another go and have since before writing this post, but again I just can’t make this work. My experience with this foundation was it clung to weird patches on my skin that aren’t normally dry.

foundation

Next are some more wet n wild products. I am by no means trying to slam this brand – they are a great affordable drugstore brand and some of the best products are from the brand. Their cream blushes in rose and peach. I originally bought to test out for a post i never ended up doing so they’ve gotten lost in my collection. I found that these disappeared as soon as I put them on so alas I’ll give these another try, if I use these in combination with a powder blush they do last well, but again if I’m going to use a cream blush I don’t want to set it.  The ELF baked bronzer. Frankly, I should just declutter this because it doesn’t show up on my skin. I’ve scraped off the top and it still doesn’t show up at all. I will try it again but alas it might be time for it to go.

The ELF Baked highlighter in blushed gems. This is a beautiful highlighter – but I have more that I like better than this. This was one of my first highlighters and at the time I really liked it but I just never reach for it anymore. I have worn it for the past few days and it is a beautiful more subtle highlighter which is sometimes what I want on certain days. I will update you in two weeks if this is staying or going.

open cheek products.png

The Rimmel contour face palette in Golden Sands. This is actually a beautiful palette but it is very powdery and has that classic drugstore powder smell. The bronzer in this palette is really nice which is what I will try to use over the course of this two week test.  I have such an affinity for face palettes, with all the bases covered but  I find myself using this one sporadically. I have a few other face palettes I love but since this one has pretty delicate powders I can see myself possibly adding this to a project pan in the near future and attempt to hit pan on the blush and bronzer shades!

cheek products on chopping block

The other face palette is the ELF contouring blush and bronzer duo in Fiji matte. This was $3 at Loblaws so I bought it on impulse. I don’t know why because I literally never wear matte blushes and the bronzer isn’t the best formula wise but I will test it a few times to see if I want to keep it around.

wet n wild eye shadow.png

Finally, the Wet n Wild comfort zone palette. This is the old one, there is a new one now with a new formula, but I bought this when I first started watching Youtube in 2016 and of course, it is beautiful but after trying more and more eye shadows I find myself not reaching for it. I tried to pan it in my first project pan roulette and didn’t have much luck progress wise. I probably should just declutter it right now because I haven’t used it since that project. I might try and use it again but I swear, even with a primer these eye shadows fade quite quickly on me even with an eye primer.

What products are you on the fence about?

Makeup Stash Fridays: Fall Eye Shadow Palettes

I LOVE me a good fall eye shadow palette and I do have my eyes on a few colourpop ones but alas I’m holding off. The reason being I have so many other palettes in my collection that are perfect for the fall season and can carry us into the holiday season. I have rounded up a few palettes I’m bringing in to my rotation for the fall season.

The orange tones

milani earthy elements

milani eyeshadow

no shades names

naked heat

Left-right: Ounce, Chaser, Sauced, Low blow, Lumbre, He Devil, Dirty talk, Scorched, Cayenne, En fuego, Ashes, Ember

I love orange eyeshadow…like a lot. I have a few palettes that are more specifically geared towards the oranges. First is my all time favourite drugstore palette and that is the Milani Earthy Elements palette. The quality in this palette is just amazing. It has every shade you need for a simple look or for a full on fall look. The next one is the Naked Heat Palette. I love this palette really for all seasons but I want to use it a lot for the remainder of the year. There are warm browns, oranges, reds and purples. An all around great palette.

The neutral palette

anastasia soft glam\

Left to right: Tempera, Dirty Rose, Glistening, Fairy, Orange Soda, Burnt orange, Rose pink, Sienna, Sultry, Bronze, Rustic, Cyprus umber, Mulberry, Noir

I have one palette for this category. This palette is not necessarily the traditional neutral palette you might see but it is one of the most versatile in terms of shades and the ease of use it what makes a neutral palette easy to use. The Anastasia soft glam has a variety of tones including cool purples, dusty pinks, neutral warm browns and a matte black. I put this one in a neutral section because for me I feel like this is a really versatile palette for every season but you can really make this palette very fall and then also create more cool toned rose looks. Every time I use this palette I am floored by the quality of these shadows

The coloured gems

sweet peach

Coral obsessions

Again, going off of the pumpkin makeup theme we discussed last time. I have three for this one. The Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions really is one of the most versatile monochrome palettes. It has neutral browns and reds as well as peaches all coming together for a seamless fall look. My ride or die the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette. I love all the shades in the palette and the variety of tones including peaches, warm browns, light bone shades, purples, etc making it a seasonless and an easy palette to use. Lastly, we have the NYX Olive You palette. Tonally this is the perfect fall palette (there I said it okay, I admit it). I love the tones in this palette, the bronze shade, the warm orangey-brown crease shade, the olive shades and the golden shimmer shade. This palette is simple to use but not lacking in shades you need to create a fall look of your choice. I like that it has a variety of colours, but not too much variety that it becomes overwhelming. Perfectly balanced and a beautifully formulated!

The Joy of Makeup

I was inspired to do this post by the Full Coverage Podcast when they talked about products that brought them joy. I love all makeup, obviously I have this beauty blog and love product but I have to say there are products I put on that make me feel BADASS. I’m talking the MAC lipstick in See sheer, I’m talking that Carrie Mathison post intense day lipstick application. Homeland is hella problematic, but it gets the joy of makeup totally right.

Burts Bees MAC

I love popping on a beautiful blush and a bold lip to take on the day. It’s not that I want to cover up my face as a lot of society thinks beauty is, but its like when I wear my paper bag pants; I feel good. I wanted to talk about enjoying makeup again. I have always enjoyed makeup but I sometimes feel the release fatigue that a lot of beauty lovers feel. When a new collection is dropping day in and day out, it makes you forget about those old gems and beautiful products that perk you up on a bad day, or make you feel more confident for a presentation or just the day in general.

luxury powders

MAC Lipstick

I personally love Hourglass, they don’t release products too often and when they do they never do any wrong. I love and still use their ambient lighting edit from a few years ago. I still use and love it despite the fact that it was limited edition. This was my very first luxury product and I love all the powders. I can use this for literally every step of my makeup.

hourglass palette

Flatlay two

A good high end lipstick gives me so much joy. I know  the drugstore makes amazing lipsticks, but I can’t help it, I’m a sucker for packaging! I love the sleek black lipstick MAC tubes and the soft matte feeling of the Bite Beauty lipsticks.

NARS Highlighter

Physicians formula products

A good NARS product always suits my fancy. The soft matte packaging and the heavy weight of it makes me so giddy. If I’m being honest I don’t get the giddy feeling from a lot of my drugstore products. There are definitely drugstore products that are awesome, and that formula wise rival their higher end counterparts such as the collection lasting perfection concealer and the Revlon YouthFx concealer. However, this post is about the joy of makeup and the experience. I think it’s so exciting to save up for that one obscenely (and trust me I know this is a whole capitalist operation and luxury makeup is extremely overpriced) priced beautifully packaged highlighter or blush. I love that sleek, black heavy packaging or the gold shiny square packaging that is hourglass’ signature look. This isn’t to say that I don’t love drugstore and mid range makeup, I LOVE the Physicians formula butter line, the highlighter, blush and bronzer are all beautiful and I love the whole Burt’s Bees Makeup line (except the foundation) and those also bring me joy. There is just something about putting those luxury items in your cart and waiting for the Sephora Sale to roll around to get your luxury makeup – or rewarding yourself for running 12 km with a luxury product! (you can tell I’ve restarted my journey)

What products make you feel giddy?

Makeup Stash Fridays: Fall Blushes

In the second installment of makeup stash Fridays I’m going to take you through the blushes I’m officially focusing on in the fall. Of course, there are several peach blushes but I’ve also pulled out some of my mauvy toned blushes for the season.

The rosy mauve shades

mauvy-blushes.png

The three blushes in this category are a bit different but all have a nice mauve undertone. First is the Milani powder blush in romantic rose. In some lights in the pan this blush looks purple-mauve but in other lights it looks like a nice light rose shade. Upon swatching this blush is a beautiful rose matte shade. Second is the Physicians Formula Butter Blush in Vintage Rouge. This is a beautiful buttery blush, I love love love this blush. I haven’t used it much since I bought this in the beginning of the summer but I have been wearing it and it’s literally the perfect (DARE I SAY) flush to the cheeks. Its neutral enough to pair with a lot of eye looks and looks beautifully smooth on the skin. Then we have our most cool toned blush the ELF cosmetics studio blush in Berry Merry. This is supposedly a dupe for NARS sin (which I don’t own) but I’m glad I own the more inexpensive version because I didn’t reach for this much last fall but I want to get more use out of it this season. It is a purple shade with a gold shimmer running through – perfect for darker skin tones.

The pumpkin blushes

peach-blushes

I recently saw alwayscleia mention that she thinks of her peach makeup as pumpkin makeup and I was like BRILLIANT OMG. Hence the title of this category. I have three peachy blushes to talk about. First the MAC blush in PeachTwist. This is a sheertoned blush which I love. I can build it up and go ham so I don’t have to worry about going overboard. The second blush I have is the L’Oreal true Match blush in Bare Honey. This blush is a nude peach blush with shimmer (not chunky at all) and looks beautiful on the skin. I also love the Burt’s Bees Blush in bare peach. While at first glance in the pan this blush looks matte its actually a beautiful satin finish. Then as a blush topper I can’t stop won’t stop with the Hourglass blush in Incandescent Electra. This blush is definitely more highlighterish then blushish but I just love it on top of these darker peach and mauve shades to add an extra glow.

What are your favourite fall blushes? p.s no swatch photos because gosh darn it just wasn’t working

NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Foundation Review

This foundation came out about two months ago. As you know with foundations I have a standard, has to be lightweight and doesn’t make my skin itchy. Too much to ask? Yes probably but when I swatched this foundation in shoppers it felt so beautiful. Almost like a thick hydrating serum, it blended out beautiful on the back of my hand and I knew in that moment this was a foundation I needed to review. For reference my skin type is normal to dry. I bought the shade light and it is a perfect shade match.

flatlay

The claims: “Lightweight, waterproof and pigmented AF, our new Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Full Coverage Foundation hustles as hard as you do. This comfy liquid formula comes in 45 flattering tones that don’t transfer. Every creamy shade glides on smooth, delivering matte coverage and color that stays true for up to 24 hours. Our little over achiever also works to control shine and mattify your complexion all-day long. But it doesn’t stop there: this foundation is noncomedogenic and suitable for normal, oily, combination, and sensitive skin types”

Lightweightness: This is a true claim. This foundation, while full coverage and matte, feels very light weight on the skin and doesn’t make my feel dry and tight. Now, keep in my mind I mix everything I use with a hydrating serum (even tinted moisturizers) so I think that definitely helped. But I did wear this only over a glowy primer and the finish was flawless. I will say that you should moisturize if you tend to lean towards the dry side but in any case I didn’t find this grabbed onto any patches. It did sort of cake up around my nose but quite honestly everything does this to me and I don’t like wearing foundation on my nose anyway as per Violette Fr’s recommendation that it creates the optical illusions that you aren’t wearing foundation.

cap-off

This foundation also wears really nicely throughout the day. I went to skating in this foundation and did my own pre skate before coaching and it didn’t melt or break up on my skin (gee too bad this didn’t come out in the middle of summer when I was in plus 40 weather). I will continue though to wear this in the winter mixed with more dewy foundations because this foundation plays nicely with literally everything I’ve mixed it with, which is something I like in any base product. I also wanted to compare this to other shades of foundations I typically wear hence the picture below if you are trying to shade match.

all-foundations-comparison

swatches-of-foundations

Left to Right: Wet n wild photofocus foundation nude ivory, The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation Bora Bora, Gosh foundation drops in 002, The Ordinary Serum Foundation 1.1N

The other thing I greatly appreciate about this is the packaging. I really like the glass packaging and the pump and the lack of chemical smell. This feels very high end (not that I’ve tried many high end foundations) but it feels very lux which I think we can all appreciated in a drugstore foundation. Speaking of drugstore, this foundation was 16.49 CAD at Shoppers Drug Mart which to me is a bit pricey for a foundation, but again compared to the Wet n Wild photofocus foundation that for a foundation that is inexpensive has nice coverage, but doesn’t have the same performance as this one and the wet n wild also smells like paint thinner. This foundation to me feels very quite substantial and while I can’t compare this to any high end foundation as I don’t own any, I really love it overall.  As well, it has 45 shades which is a wonderful shade range and was done in collaboration with Alissa Ashley.

IMG_3367.JPG

Wearing the foundation – you can see its a bit dry on my chin but basically all my foundations are. You can’t feel it on the face which is a big win in my book!

Overall rating, I haven’t done this in so long, but hot damn 5/5 stars for me. If you have extremely dry skin I’d stay away but if you are normal, oily, combo and sensitive this is a perfect foundation for you!

Have you tried this foundation yet?

Things I liked and Did in September

Ah, its that time again where I say the cliche, where did the last month go? To be quite honest I haven’t done a whole ton of stuff. I started figure skating again and have just been on the hunt for a job in field! However, I still found a few standout products from the month to share with you today.

flatlay-2

NYX dose of dew

nyx-does-of-dew

The dose of dew from NYX was a YouTube made me buy it purchase. I got this quite a while ago while I was still at school and I originally got it to compare it to the Nudestix one (which I love) but the one is ever so slightly more user friendly. The Nudestix one stays sticky throughout the day and never sets but I find the NYX does set but doesn’t lose any of that sheen.

NYX Olive You palette

eyeshadow

NYX-Eyeshadow-open

I have been loving this palette. The quality is amazing and the Olive tones are perfect for the fall but also nicely balanced out by the purple and neutral shades in the palette. I really have been loving creating with this palette and it really got me out my neutral brown eye shadow comfort zone. I really like that this has a variety of shades for the fall and you can do simple looks to more editorial looks. I am planning to do a full review and three looks so stay tuned for that in October!

Mac See sheer

MAC-see-Sheer

I have mentioned this far too many times on the blog since I got it during the Sephora Appreciation Sale. It is just the perfect pink-red sheer no mirror lipstick that I didn’t know I needed in my life. As soon as I swatched, I knew I was playing a dangerous game with my wallet. I want all the shades in this formula…I know that’s pretty extensive but this formula is now on my top 5 lipstick formulas (would you like to see a post on my top 5 lipsticks because I can do that).

The Marcelle micellar water

Marcelle-Micellar-Water

I have tried the Garnier one previously and it was okay, I just found I really had to rub and get my mascara off. Even when I held it there for a few seconds it still didn’t come off well. Look no further for the best micellar water on the market in Canada, the Marcelle one is just amazing. There are four options for different skin types. I bought the one for dry skin because I tend to have drier skin in the winter months. I literally cleans my skin, I wouldn’t just use this as a cleanser because I am an avid double cleaner, but I love this to take off stubborn mascara because it really gets the bulk (if not all) of it off.

Mixing a hydrating serum into foundations

serum-and-NYX-Foundation

I have been loving mixing the Neutrogena Hydro boost serum into different foundations to both sheer them out and make=slightly more hydrating. I’ve been mixing this in with my First Aid Beauty tinted moisturizer, the NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop foundation and the wet n wild photo focus foundation (not sure how I feel about this, I like the finish but it makes my skin itchy so alas). I really like how much this sheers out the foundation and that it makes my skin feel more hydrated. Look out for a full review on the foundation soon!

Hanging out with my cat

IMG_3528 (1).JPG

I know this is a bit of lame favorite for the month but I haven’t lived with my cat this long since we got her in the summer of 2016. It’s so nice to have a little critter wandering around, meowing, hunting, and cuddling! Yes, this is a bit of an odd favourite but it’s been nice just chilling with my bean.

What did you like this past month?!

Makeup Stash Fridays: Fall Lipsticks

I have been wanting to do one of these types of post for awhile. If you have been around the beauty YouTube space there used to be videos called my makeup stash where people would go through their collections and showcase their stashes in different categories. I wanted to start a similar series but for seasons. So for every category of makeup I’m going to do a “stash” for that season. I am also going to attempt to do this every Friday hence the title “Makeup Stash Fridays”. For today, I’m going to do the lipsticks that I’m going to use for the fall season, excluding my project pan lipsticks the Joe Fresh Lip balm, 100% Pure Lip caramel in Truffle and the Milani Lipstick in Nude Creme. So every Friday look out for a post like this one!

The Berries

berry-lips

berry-swatches

From Left to right: NYX Prague, Colourpop Blotted lipstick in Bees knees, ELF liquid lipstick in Berry Sorbet, Bite Beauty Beetroot

First, as we typically think of fall we have the berry shades.  My first most used and oldest fall shade is the classic NYX soft matte lip cream Prague. It’s a beautiful pinky berry shade and smells like vanilla. It almost has a blotted lip look and despite the name its not drying on the lips. These all come in a load of shades. The next one that is very similar is the Colourpop blotted lipstick (also please someone tell me are these discontinued because I cannot find them on their site). This is a very similar shade to the NYX – a perfect fushia pink berry. Next is a classic ELF liquid lipstick in Berry Sorbet. It’s a darker more purple berry then the previous ones and have a nice soft matte finish. Finally my most expensive option of the bunch the Bite Beauty Amuse bouche lipstick in beetroot. I bought this because of ttsandra on YouTube and it’s the perfect bold berry shade.

The brown nudes with a hint of rose

rose-hued-lippies

Left-Right: Bite Beauty Honeycomb, Wet n Wild Bare it All, Burt’s Bees Suede Splash, Bite Beauty Chai,, Bite Beauty Rhubarb, Mineral Fusion Adorn

I love me a good solid nude lipstick, borderline too much beige with a hint of rose. First up we have my tried and true favourite lipstick shade Lush Perspective (sadly no longer available). It’s a beautiful rose toned liquefied lipstick that is the perfect your lips but better shade. Next are two similar friends, the Wet n wild lipstick in Bare it All that seems to get through all my declutterers and its glossier counterpart the Burt’s Bees lipstick in suede splash. Both are beige nude shades with a just enough of a pink undertone to still look good against my fair skin. The three Bite Beauty shades we have are the mini chai shade which is a mauve brown shade and honeycomb which is a true beige nude, one I like to mix with another more pink shade. Then we have the shade rhubarb which is a dark plum rose shade. Finally a glossy true brown options is the mineral fusion sheer moisture lip tint in adorn.

Left to Right: Bite Beauty Sugarcane, Burt’s Bees Tahitian Sunset, MAC See Sheer, Burt’s Bees Scarlet Soaked, Nudestix Sin

I only have a few (you guessed) rosy red shades for this category. Of course if you follow me on instagram you know I love MAC see Sheer. It is described as a grapefruit pink but I think on my lips it definitely feels like a pink red you wear when you don’t want to fuss with a red lip. The no fuss red lip I like is the Burts Bees lipstick in Scarlet soaked. I find you can build this up to full opacity or just blot it on over a lip balm. Next is the Burt’s Bees glossy lip crayon in Tahitian Sunset alongside its cooler toned counterpart the Nudestix lip and cheek pencil in Sin. I also didn’t have a place for this one colour wise but I’m trying to use the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipstick in sugarcane which is a true pastel pink so I’m attempting to use it as a mixing shade.

Left to right: Fenty Gloss Bomb, ELF gotta glow lip tint in Perfect Pink

The two glossy sheer lip products I have are the Fenty Gloss bomb in Fenty Glow. This lip gloss literally makes your lips look like glass. It can be worn on its own and over any lipstick. Next is something that I didn’t realize how much I used until I looked at the bullet and that’s the ELF cosmetics beautifully bare gotta glow lip tint in perfect pink. It is the perfect lip tint to throw in your purse and use on your daily errands.
