June Faves

June has been such a lovely month. Many awesome things are happening, my room decorating is coming along and my career is slightly starting! I haven’t done a ton this month, lots of work and chilling, but I did discover a few lovely makeup items.

Pixi Delicate Dew Highlighting Duo

This is a lovely, glossy highlighter. It feels similar to the NARS Forte De France highlighter in terms of texture, and shines like it as well, but is a bit more subtle. Because I have a slight tan, even though it looks darkish in the pan, it gives a beautiful glow.

The Quo Colour Lust Lipstick in Gossip Session

This is a lovely lip colour. It feels very similar to the MAC Lustre Lipstick formula. This is a lovely peachy shade that lasts well and moisturizes the lips. It’s also buildable and a great work day lipstick that you can reapply without a mirror.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze

This is a lovely cream shadow. I have had this before and it dried up and repurchased it. It is the perfect bronze shade and hardly creases. My mom complimented my eyeshadow and asked what it was, and I told her it was the Maybelline Colour Tattoo. This is a lovely sparkling shadow that is an easy slap on and go type of shade.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer

I love this concealer. It is expensive but it hardly creases. It is easy to spread out and doesn’t leave my skin feeling clogged under the eyes or on the face. It is a splurge item but for something I use every day, that takes a few seconds to blend out with fingers or whatever your preferred method is, it is worth it for me.

Pin for later!

My Favourite Beauty and Lifestyle Creators

I watch a lot of YouTube, as you may have realized and as my friends all know. Surprisingly one of the most popular questions I get is “which youtubers do you watch” and I always tell them my top ones which tend to be slightly bigger channels so in today’s post I’m gonna hit on a few smaller YouTubers. I also think I might make this into a series, like My favourite bloggers and content creators with varying size in platforms. Today’s editions are the somewhat smaller YouTubers that I follow!

Aleeza/stylishandliterate. Aleeza has 15k subscribers Aleeza is a Canadian Youtuber (YES AMIRIGHT). She is mainly a beauty and lifestyle gal, she has great vlogs, great beauty content and a super soothing voice. I love her declutter series, her favourites and her vlogs. Essentially everything about her makes me happy. I really trust her skincare recommendations and I love her makeup style.

Crueltyfreebecky. She has 7k subscribers. I LOVE this channel so much. She is a British cruelty free and vegan Youtuber who has great content that is always informative and fun to watch. She tries a lot of cool brands and also gives you an idea of what makeup is outside of our reach in Canada. I like that she has a lot of thrifted content, a lot of ideas for vegan meals (I’m not a vegan but a lot of vegan recipes are cruelty free so it’s a win). Here is her instagram.

Kelly Gooch. She has about 31k, a bit bigger than my first two faves.  I discovered her when I forayed into the project panning side of YouTube. She creates really original or at least less common content then some of the bigger folk on YouTube which I love. She has really inspired me to shop my stash and pan products. I also like that she doesn’t make me want to buy things (as with crueltyfreebecky) but she also adds things into her collection with such thought and research that I have been inspired to do the same. Here is her Instagram.

Rebecca Morgan. Again, supporting my Canadian gals, she has 3k subscribers. I found her through searching for project panning and she is just such a gem. I love her style and aesthetic and her videos. She always does realistic challenges like her 1 month 2 palettes, and I love her amount of empties content because it really inspires me to use up product! Here is her Instagram.

Ymorbeauty. This is the smallest channel I will discuss today. Her name is Romy and she as a great, well curated blog with informative and interesting content and has just started posting more on her YouTube channel that has 307 subscribers. I love her instagram page, its inspiring for me to be more creative with my flat lays. Go follow her, you won’t be disappointed.

Blune Day 26: Things I liked and Did in June

How is it almost July? I just can’t believe how this summer has flown by! I wanted to pop up a little Things I liked and did in June. There aren’t many makeup products this month but there are just a lot of good happenings and good skincare bits.

Let’s start with the makeup: The Lush emotional brilliance powder. This is such a surprise to me. It has talc in it which can be drying but it’s sets my under eyes so well and doesn’t dry them out. Because it is so hot here, this has actually been the perfect setting powder and I find it doesn’t ever look cakey.

lush-powder

The only other makeup item is the Joe Fresh tinted Lip balm in the shade mango. I have been reaching for it quite often and keep it in my work bag. It’s a really beautiful formula and just glides right on. This is such a hidden gem of the Canadian drugstore and is from a cruelty free brand. Bonus! I try to shop all cruelty free but more on that in a future post I have planned. These also come in so many colours and smell like candy which is always a big plus in my books.

lush-celestial

The second item I have been loving is Lush celestial which I have never tried before. It is really moisturizing and non irritating thus far. That has been my age old problem is I will buy a moisturizer and it will immediately sort of burn my skin or create some sort of irritation. I would like to try some Korean skincare brands and of course the Drunk elephant lala retro cream, but for now I have been loving this lush formula.

tea-tree

The Body Shop tea tree oil. I replaced my Thursday Plantation one with this and I just love it. I know there are dermatologists out there and skincare brand founders that are against the use of essential oils but I find that this really zaps any problems I am having with pimples.

My degree! I am so excited to have finally attained the most expensive paper of my life. My graduation day was wonderful, I’m so glad to have finally complete my degree and learned so much about myself and the world along the way. It is such a good feeling to have finally attained the degree I always dreamed of getting, which sounds odd but women’s studies has taught me so many things that I cannot put into words in such a small paragraph. I also had the most wonderful day,  I saw all my friends, my parents, my aunt and soon I will be home to see my Buttons!

Doing Blune! I made the decision to Blune around the end of May because I really wanted to challenge myself to make at least 27 pieces of content (so not everyday in June) but most days. I have been loving this, and been loving discovering other new blogs through this journey. I can’t wait to continue to blog more and more for the small community that takes the time to read my blog.

This was a short and sweet favourites because June has been such a busy month with Blune, with moving and packing. What did you love in June?

Blune day 1: Project Pan Roulette Update 1

Ya’ll, I have been failing hardcore at this project pan. I don’t know why, but I just have been so bad about reaching for these products. I thought I would give you a wee update about how this has been going. The project ends on Jul 9 and to be quite frank, most of these products I think have reached their expiry date so alas this project has been a bit sad with the progress.

annabelle-lip-laquer

annabelleSo what has been going well? The Annabelle chrome shadow and the Annabelle lip lacquer, I have been seeing progress in both of these. The eye chrome is such an easy one and done shadow for the day time. The lip lacquer looks great over top of every lip colour I pair it with.

What has been going not so well. The first product was one that was given to you as gift. this was the balm Mary Loumanizer. Oh friends, I do love this highlighter, it’s poppin’ but I think it’s gone bad? It smells like chlorine…and I can see the rings are poking through but folks I think after this project I might have to put this in the bin?

The Wet n Wild comfort zone from the category a project you wouldn’t repurchase. Ya’ll this has been repackaged and reformulated. I bought this because of YouTube when I began my makeup journey….it is a beautiful palette. The shadows are soft and good quality, for their price. However, I find myself gravitating towards other shadows that allow me to have an entire look out of a palette.  Again, after this project I quite honestly may get rid of it.

The sword mascara, aka the Physicians formula sportswear mascara for the category of a product you don’t like. I actually think this is running out because I can barely get it on my lashes. It still pokes my eyes, and since I have discovered the Burt’s Bees mascara, I just don’t like to reach for any other mascaras. Again, I have had this for an extremely long amount of time, so I think I might have to trash this, mostly for hygienic reasons but it also doesn’t perform the best.

blush

Ah Milani Luminoso, for the category of a product in a previous project. Again, I think this is reaching the end of its life. I notice when I use this I tend to get a lot of texture on my cheeks which is unfortunate because I am not sure if its the blush, but when not using it my texture is not there or is lessened in some way. I think that I will continue to use this but alas since I am moving I might just purge this one before I move.

What have you been getting use out of?
