I was inspired to do this post by the Full Coverage Podcast when they talked about products that brought them joy. I love all makeup, obviously I have this beauty blog and love product but I have to say there are products I put on that make me feel BADASS. I’m talking the MAC lipstick in See sheer, I’m talking that Carrie Mathison post intense day lipstick application. Homeland is hella problematic, but it gets the joy of makeup totally right.

Burts Bees MAC

I love popping on a beautiful blush and a bold lip to take on the day. It’s not that I want to cover up my face as a lot of society thinks beauty is, but its like when I wear my paper bag pants; I feel good. I wanted to talk about enjoying makeup again. I have always enjoyed makeup but I sometimes feel the release fatigue that a lot of beauty lovers feel. When a new collection is dropping day in and day out, it makes you forget about those old gems and beautiful products that perk you up on a bad day, or make you feel more confident for a presentation or just the day in general.

MAC Lipstick

I personally love Hourglass, they don’t release products too often and when they do they never do any wrong. I love and still use their ambient lighting edit from a few years ago. I still use and love it despite the fact that it was limited edition. This was my very first luxury product and I love all the powders. I can use this for literally every step of my makeup.

Flatlay two

A good high end lipstick gives me so much joy. I know  the drugstore makes amazing lipsticks, but I can’t help it, I’m a sucker for packaging! I love the sleek black lipstick MAC tubes and the soft matte feeling of the Bite Beauty lipsticks.

NARS Highlighter

Physicians formula products

A good NARS product always suits my fancy. The soft matte packaging and the heavy weight of it makes me so giddy. If I’m being honest I don’t get the giddy feeling from a lot of my drugstore products. There are definitely drugstore products that are awesome, and that formula wise rival their higher end counterparts such as the collection lasting perfection concealer and the Revlon YouthFx concealer. However, this post is about the joy of makeup and the experience. I think it’s so exciting to save up for that one obscenely (and trust me I know this is a whole capitalist operation and luxury makeup is extremely overpriced) priced beautifully packaged highlighter or blush. I love that sleek, black heavy packaging or the gold shiny square packaging that is hourglass’ signature look. This isn’t to say that I don’t love drugstore and mid range makeup, I LOVE the Physicians formula butter line, the highlighter, blush and bronzer are all beautiful and I love the whole Burt’s Bees Makeup line (except the foundation) and those also bring me joy. There is just something about putting those luxury items in your cart and waiting for the Sephora Sale to roll around to get your luxury makeup – or rewarding yourself for running 12 km with a luxury product! (you can tell I’ve restarted my journey)
